We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your participation in today’s Golf Scramble hosted by Family Counseling Center, Inc. in an effort to raise funds for our Youth Programs. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization, which offers services to at-risk and disadvantaged youth within the Southern seven counties of Illinois (Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, and Union).

The goal of the Golf Scramble is to raise money to benefit the youth that we serve. With the money raised at last year’s event, we were able to provide healthy recreational activities and emergency services to 69 youth and their families. With changes in regulations and increased State funding cuts, these activities along with emergency assistance, staff training and support services that were once offered are no longer an option. This year we hope to continue to provide these extremely important services to our youth and families. Your support is truly appreciated!

This support group will be an excellent way to learn about memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, legal issues, community resources and planning for the future. The members of the group welcome all caregivers and willingly share their ideas and experiences.

It can be helpful to talk to sympathetic people about the frustrations you are experiencing. Alzheimer’s disease and memory loss problems create many specific problems for families in their daily lives. Simply getting to know other people with similar concerns is a comfort to many.

While these cuts were devastating in changing or stopping some services to affected clients and consumers, they were also traumatic to employees through lay offs, reduction in working hours and pay, and unpaid furlough days. Fee for services dictated the newly required behavioral health changes the State of Illinois implemented in its efforts to reduce the growing State budget deficit.

The very significant and tough decisions required to be made were not taken lightly by the management team or the Tri-County Board of Directors. Throughout the year, spending was closely monitored and the unaudited balance sheet at the close of FY10 indicated a projected profit (revenue over expenses) of $551,495.00. Also, the unaudited balance sheet for Autumn Ridge Supportive Living Facility indicated a projected FY10 profit (revenue over expenses) of $16,681.00. It would appear that the direct and swift action taken contributed to a successful turnaround during the budget year.

Notifications of future reductions in State funding, closing of some programs and elimination of some grant funds are now being introduced for FY11. Our work has once again begun on developing a plan of action to implement at the beginning of next fiscal year.

I would like to dedicate this year’s annual report to all employees of Family Counseling Center, Inc. The new format of the FY10 Annual Report includes photographs of the individuals who work very hard in making up the agency. They do an awesome job of helping others help themselves. It is because of their dedication and commitment that we accomplish our goals to better the lives of those we serve.

My sincere thanks and appreciation goes out to each and every employee who is a part of our team. The work you do is challenging and sometimes difficult. I have seen the employees of this agency in action, and I proudly say that you are the best.
